Do You Act Like Wile E. Coyote?

Wile E. Coyote is the infamous looney tune character that always fails to catch the road runner, trying a different gadget or scheme every time. Catching the road runner is success to him, and he shows us his tenacity by never giving up on his pursuit no matter how many times he gets burnt.  We can learn never to give up from him.

However, I have this problem with Wile E. Coyote and of all of us when we act like him: he changes his ways before perfecting them, he abandons techniques before giving them a fair chance; like firing employees for poor performance before finishing training them.

For instance, when the coyote tries to use a bomb to blow up the road runner, the bomb goes off too early and blows up in his face. Things blow up in the faces of the best of us; my problem with Wile E. Coyote is that he tries to use a different technique to catch the road runner after that, instead of finding out what went wrong with the bomb and trying it again.

Maybe he just has to learn how to set the timer properly. He seems to buy everything from the same supplier, ACME, and none of their products seem to work…maybe he just needs to switch suppliers!

Either way, by trying something new to catch the road runner he becomes a rookie again and he never learns how to do anything properly, because he refuses to stay one place long enough to learn.

Are you the constant rookie like him, trying one thing and then another to find success? One field or line of business then another? One get rich scheme after another? Do you have the Wile E. Coyote mentally?

Just because your first attempt was not successful, it does not necessarily mean you are trying the wrong thing. Why not be like Wile E. Coyote in the sense that you never give up, but not like him by giving up your chosen method too quickly?
